One of MACSA’s latest initiatives is to engage parents in a dialogue concerning God’s truth regarding their child’s training and future.  Concerned parents desire to give their children the best possible education.  Many, however, have never considered their God-given responsibility regarding how that education is provided.  Learn more about how your current and prospective parents can benefit from cooperative efforts to inspire and inform parents in this critical area.

Major/Planned Gifts and Capital Campaigns Track

*Developing a Planned Giving Program – Robert Kauffman, Ambassador Advisors, LLC

Located in room GSC205, Friday at 3:40 p.m.

A planned giving program promotes Biblical stewardship, enables the organization to accomplish its mission and achieve its plan.  It also strengthens the current giving program as well as your capital campaign, and casts a vision for the future.

*The Few Do Much -- Hank Prevette, Annapolis Area Christian School

Located in room GSC201, Saturday at 8:55 a.m.

Money being the “divider” even among Christians, it shouldn’t surprise us that in most major fundraising efforts 10-15% of the community give 90% of those gifts and pledges required to meet the goal.  It’s always been this way, so why be surprised?  If a relatively large sum is needed, mass appeals are rarely successful within smaller institutions.  In a “mom & pop” or small development staff, strategizing or nurturing your “Top 30” major donors is probably the only way to success.  How can we locate the “Top 30” and how do we nurture them to become underwriters?

*Capital Campaigns – Hank Prevette, Annapolis Area Christian School

Located in room GSC201, Saturday at 10:05 a.m.

What are the key factors that make campaigns successful?  Why do a large number of them fail?  Aside from the Director of Development serving as coordinator, who best leads the charge?  What’s a small Christian school, less than 250 total students, to do when $5-6 million is needed?

Boards Members and Development Governance Track

CLARITY – The Antidote to Fuzzy Governance – Scott Walker, Walker Service Group

Located in room GSC202, Friday at 3:40 p.m.

This workshop will consider the negative impact Fuzzy Governance has on an organization (and why we all like it) and how an excellent board overcomes Fuzzy Governance using CLARITY as the foundational element for organizational success.

Transforming Governance – Scott Walker, Walker Service Group

Located in room GSC202, Friday at 6:15 p.m.

This seminar will consider how a maturing board transforms its governance style over time to become less operational and increasingly strategic such that the board, through effective governance, can lead the organization to the destination point defined by God and transform lives in the process of the pursuit.

Twelve Power Tools Used by Exceptional Boards – Dr. Sandy Outlar, Lancaster Christian School

Located in room GSC202, Saturday at 8:55 a.m.

This seminar defines the essence of what great board’s do that makes them effective and efficient and keeps a school moving forward.  Whether yours is a large or small school you can build a powerhouse of strategic leverage when these twelve characteristic are activated on one’s board.

*Friendly Fundraising for the Fearful Few of the Board – Dr. Sandy Outlar, Lancaster Christian School

Located in room GSC202, Saturday at 10:05 a.m.

Board members can be great fundraisers even if they never ask for money. There are a number of indirect ways to raise funds for an organization one loves.  And once one gets involved in an “alternative” ask it isn’t long before they hunger for stepping up to the proverbial plate and hitting a homerun with a direct ask.  This seminar will examine the diversity of a board and a respect for those personalities who do not like to make a direct ask, while at the same time providing them an opportunity to be a part of the fundraising effort.

Special Topics Track

Why Plan, Anyway?  Do we really need a strategic plan for our ministry? – Steve Muller, Ambassador Advisors, LLC

Located in room GSC203, Friday at 3:40 p.m.

In non-profit ministry we are expected to do more with less, and do it faster. To produce that kind of efficiency we need to have a well thought out plan, but creating a comprehensive strategic plan can seem like an overwhelming task. This workshop takes the mystery out of strategic planning. We will review what Scripture says about planning, why planning is important, and where to start for launching a planning process. We will also look at how planning results in alignment of resources and provides a context for understanding the organization itself and the work to be done.

Building an Alumni Association – Dr. Stephen Dill, Delaware County Christian School

Located in room GSC201, Friday at 6:15 p.m.

Many Christian schools, especially those with a high school, are mature enough to have an alumni association, which can provide financial, spiritual, and practical support.   Building strong connections between alumni and the school through reunions, volunteers, and effective communication pays future dividends.
