Headmaster Emeritus
Delaware County Christian School

Mr. Ken Tanis has assisted Christian schooling as Headmaster at one of the nation's premier model schools in the independent Christian school movement.  In recent years, he was promoted to Headmaster Emeritus of Delaware County Christian School (DCCS), Newtown Square, PA, after serving as its Headmaster for 22 years, so that the mantle of operational leadership could be transferred to long-time colleague and capable understudy Dr. Steve Dill, according to design of an organizational succession plan.  Ken spent five additional years serving as a head of school, prior to his work at DCCS, and holds a five-year public school teaching background prior to his work in administration.  He is a graduate of Calvin College and holds an M.A. in Administration from Michigan State University.  He and his wife, Willie, have been married for 45 years, and count 10 children among their family (including 5 foster children).

Mr. Tanis has previously served on the boards of Christian Schools International and the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges.  He currently serves on the board for the Association of Christian Schools International, and has been a long-time member of the governing board of the National Institute for Learning Disabilities.  Ken's desire to see Christian schools that are both excellent and Christ-like is evidenced by his regular participation as a speaker and panelist for NILD and ACSI training events, as well as his service as a chairman and participant on accreditation visiting committees for ACSI and the Middles States Association of Schools and Colleges.  He is enthusiastic about his tparticipation in this event because of the opportunity it represents to equip Christian school chief executives, development officers, and board leaders to cast a vision for excellence in their school and then chart the course that will lead them down that path.
